Art Shamsky was the manager of the Modi’in Miracle of the Isreal Baseball League in 2007. The team was called the Miracle after the Miracle Mets and the team colors were also blue and orange. IBL officials had hoped of creating a rivalry between the Bet Shemesh Blue Sox (similar colors to the New York Yankees) and the Miracle.
The Miracle finished the inaugural 2007 season 22-19 (.537) in third place, and after upsetting the # 2 Tel Aviv Lightning in the semi-finals, lost to Ron Blomberg’s Blue Sox 3-0 in the championship game.
“The IBL experience for me was amazing. Spending the summer in Israel, working with the players and trying to develop a professional baseball league in the Middle East was a great experience. I hope to continue that endeavor in the near future.”
